Hisense Laser TV “Explore X1 Pro” Debuts: Chinese Homes Are Finally Entering the Living Room Theater Era
20% Improvement in Optical Path Transmission Efficiency
On May 20, Hisense Laser TV held an online launch event for the Explore X1 Pro under the theme “Living Room Theater, a New Answer.” At the event, Wu Faming, President of Hisense’s Laser Business Division, took the stage and, focusing on the real viewing pain points of Chinese families in their living rooms, systematically presented a comprehensive upgrade of the new product from five dimensions: picture quality, audio, eye protection, content, and installation. The launch also featured the first screening of the documentary Tianian Shengtu, which records the multi-part folk songs of the Hani people, along with measured video footage from authoritative institutions. From two perspectives—tracing the artistic origins and providing scientific validation—the technical logic behind the new product was laid out in full.
Starting from user pain points, five upgrades directly tackle the core barriers to the living room theater experience
At the beginning of the launch, Wu Faming framed the overall narrative with a single question: “If every home has a TV, why do people still go out to the movies?” Drawing on user feedback, he pointed out that the essential appeal of a movie theater is not merely the large screen itself, but the immersive, detached-from-everyday feeling created the moment the lights dim, along with the relaxed comfort that follows. This, he said, is the experience barrier that home viewing has long failed to overcome.
He also cited data from Youku Frame-Rich Cinema. Over the past two years, the scale of paid films has increased by 311% year over year, showing that the trend of large-screen viewing returning to the living room has already taken shape. However, the gap between existing products and the true movie theater experience remains a problem the industry urgently needs to solve. The Explore X1 Pro was launched against precisely this backdrop.
Equipped with the CineCore theater-grade light engine, fully challenging professional cinemas from the light source to the tuning
In terms of picture quality, the Explore X1 Pro inherits the cinematic technology DNA of the series and is equipped with the CineCore theater-grade light engine. Its core light source uses the same MCL39 three-color laser as IMAX projectors, paired with 8 million DMD-controlled micromirrors, and reproduces the logic of cinema projection through the DLP digital projection architecture and Hisense’s self-developed three-stage optical path design. Through three processes—light synthesis, homogenization, and beam shaping—the luminous flux has been improved by 12%, and optical path transmission efficiency has been increased by 20%.
For color reproduction, the Explore X1 Pro is the industry’s only home viewing and projection device certified by the China Film Science and Technology Research Institute. It achieves 110% BT.2020 color gamut coverage and a color accuracy of ΔE≈0.6. It also holds multiple certifications, including IMAX Enhanced, Dolby Atmos, and DTS. With a new-generation nano optical spectral-selective screen, ambient light rejection reaches 83%, solving the picture-quality issues that typically arise when watching in a daytime living room.
A sound field inspired by intangible cultural heritage, with the industry’s first “Pengpai Distributed Audio” making its debut
The biggest upgrade at this launch was the cinema-grade sound field. According to Wu Faming, the audio team spent 98 days visiting 114 cinemas around the world and engaged in in-depth exchanges with 35 veteran sound engineers. In the end, they found the breakthrough from audio recorded on-site by Hollywood recording engineer Huang Xun in the Hani terraced fields of Yunnan.
The Hani people’s polyphonic singing creates a natural stereo sound field across vast mountains and fields using nothing but the human voice—no equipment required. Multiple vocal lines remain independent yet coordinated, creating an enveloping surround effect with no blind spots. This natural acoustic phenomenon became the core design inspiration for the Explore X1 Pro’s “Pengpai Distributed Audio.” The launch event also premiered Tianian Shengtu, a documentary that captures the origins of this inspiration.
Based on this research, Hisense officially introduced the industry’s first 6.1.2-channel “Pengpai Distributed Audio.” It adopts a three-point collaborative architecture consisting of the main speakers, screen sound source, and independent subwoofer, directly challenging the design logic of Dolby Atmos theaters. The front-facing audio design allows sound to reach the ears directly without obstruction, resolving the issue of conventional TV audio sounding muffled due to downward reflection. Screen sound-emitting technology moves the center of the sound field 40 cm upward, precisely aligning it with ear level when seated and creating the sensation of sound striking from straight ahead. The vertical height speakers generate an elevated aerial sound field, and combined with AI-based automatic sound field calibration, the system adapts automatically to different living room sizes and sofa layouts to deliver an all-encompassing surround experience. Low frequencies are handled by a specially tuned independent subwoofer from Harman Kardon. With a 12.5L ultra-large acoustic chamber and a 5.25-inch large-diameter speaker, bass reaches as low as 33Hz. The explosions and roars of blockbuster films are not just heard—they are felt as if they are physically shaking the chest cavity.
The launch event also unveiled audio measurement footage produced by the well-known tech media outlet “Ruimu Test Lab.” According to an evaluation by the China Electronic Standardization Institute, the Explore X1 Pro has a well-balanced frequency response and can accurately reproduce low, mid, and high frequencies, making it advantageous for both vocal clarity and surround performance. The event also introduced a flagship theater package for high-end users. By pairing it with the Hisense F7 wireless rear surround speakers, the Explore X1 Pro can achieve deep audio coordination and upgrade from 6.1.2 channels to 8.1.4 panoramic sound with a single touch.
As the industry’s first laser TV with integrated pan-and-tilt functionality, the Hisense Explore X1 Pro adopts a proprietary “Hidden Wing” floating gimbal design to suit a wide range of interior styles. It can be installed comfortably whether or not a TV cabinet is present. With a screen just 3 cm thin, even minimalist design carries a sense of sophistication. Continuing Hisense laser imaging technology’s “eye-friendly genes,” the Explore X1 Pro is the industry’s only product to receive TÜV Rheinland’s “Eye Comfort 5-Star Certification” in Germany. It achieves zero harmful blue light and zero flicker at the light-source level, reducing visual strain from prolonged viewing and delivering a home theater experience that is truly “worry-free and effortless” for users.
Last year’s launch of the Explore X1 series made “the living room becoming a movie theater” a reality. This year, the Explore X1 Pro presents “a new answer to the living room theater” through a full-range upgrade. Hisense Laser TV has consistently evolved based on the real usage scenarios of Chinese households, elevating the home viewing experience from simply “pursuing a bigger screen” to “a cinema-grade immersive experience.” The Hisense Explore X1 Pro is now available for pre-order. The 100-inch and 120-inch versions are priced at RMB 27,999 and RMB 42,999 respectively after the national subsidy. In addition, buyers can enjoy a range of exclusive launch offers. With the full rollout of this new product, a new era of living room theaters belonging to Chinese families is about to begin.
