People use Google Search every day to discover new things and find inspiration—and home decor is no exception. Searches for “home decor inspo” have grown by 300% over the past month. During the same period, “bathroom inspo” and “living room inspo” were also among the fastest-growing searches. Searches for this year’s popular paint colors include bold teal and magenta.
Finding inspiration is the fun part; turning your vision into reality can be more daunting. Here are five ways to use Google Search tools to bring your home decor mood board to life.
1. Preview furniture in your space
When you find a new sofa or another large piece of furniture you love, it can be difficult to tell whether it will truly fit your room—both in terms of its physical dimensions and its appearance. AI Mode in Search can help you preview furniture in your space, giving you more confidence that it’s the right fit. Simply upload a photo of your room and ask a question like, “What kind of sofa would you recommend for my living room? The wall is 84 inches wide.” You can then explore different sofa styles that would work in the space and follow up with prompts such as, “Can you show me what an emerald green velvet sofa would look like here?” to see a simulated preview of the furniture in your room.
2. Use Lens in Search to learn more about and shop for home decor
This year, people are searching for vintage items more than ever. “Vintage braided rugs” and “vintage wood coffee table” are among the top trending searches for home goods. If you spot a vintage decor item you love while you’re out and about, use Google Lens to learn more about it and find similar products online at a price that fits your budget. Just use the Google app on an iOS or Android device to take a photo of the item. Lens will show you links to similar products, helping you bring that vintage style home.
3. Discover new home decor finds with Circle to Search
Sometimes, the best discoveries happen while browsing online. With Circle to Search, you can find home decor you love in videos, social feeds or webpages without switching apps. For example, imagine you see a social media post featuring fish-patterned wallpaper—which has seen a 140% increase in searches over the past month—and it looks perfect for your home. On the latest Pixel devices and Samsung Galaxy S26 devices, simply press and hold the Home button or navigation bar, then circle the wallpaper on your screen to see similar options or ask questions about the product.
4. Use Search Live to complete DIY projects
Suppose, like many people, you’re searching for floating shelves—one of the most popular home goods this year—to install in your new studio apartment. Floating shelves are stylish and practical, but once you’ve bought them, you still need to install them. Search Live can guide you through a DIY project step by step. First, open the Google app and tap the Live icon below the search bar. You can ask questions out loud, just as you would when chatting with a friend. You can also turn on video input and share visual information through your camera to help you complete the task successfully.
5. Find the best price
Getting your home just right can quickly add up. Before buying that uniquely shaped table lamp or diamond-checkered wallpaper—both among the fastest-growing searches over the past month—take a moment to compare prices and make sure you’re getting a good deal. Simply click any product listing to compare prices across different stores. You can also expand the “Typically drops” dropdown to view the price history and see whether the current price is high, low or within the normal range. Not ready to buy yet? Click “Track price,” and you’ll get an alert when the price falls within your budget.
