Today, at our Galaxy Unpacked event in London, we celebrated the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8. With these devices, we’re making it easier than ever for users to get started with Android, while introducing the first features of Gemini Intelligence

1

—our vision for technology that proactively helps people. Whether you choose to unfold your phone and use the larger screen to boost productivity, or keep it folded and stay focused on the moment, Gemini Intelligence can help take care of the heavy lifting.

Here are three updates coming to the new devices.

1. Next-generation task automation with Gemini Intelligence

Gemini Intelligence can help handle a range of digital tasks, so you don’t have to spend hours staring at your screen. Earlier this February, we launched a beta version of task automation to help you delegate simple everyday tasks to Gemini, such as booking a rideshare or ordering your favorite takeout.

Today, task automation works with more than 40 popular apps, expanding beyond the handful of apps it supported initially.

2

That means Gemini can now help with more everyday “life admin,” including shopping, restaurant reservations, booking travel experiences, and purchasing event tickets. On Galaxy Z Flip8, you can even access the feature directly from the Flex Window by long-pressing the power button.

Gemini can also now use advanced reasoning to understand what’s on your screen and turn complex images into prompts. This gives you a powerful starting point—because sometimes the easiest way to tell Gemini what you need is simply to show it a shopping list or an inspiration photo.

As Gemini completes a task, you can follow its step-by-step progress on screen while multitasking in other apps—or close your phone and let Gemini work in the background. If you need to make a quick adjustment or add a personal request, you can step in to handle a specific detail, then hand control back to Gemini to finish the rest. Gemini will proactively notify you when the task is ready for your review and final confirmation.

2. Take your projects further with Gemini Notebook

To help you manage in-depth projects and bring together complex information, we’re bringing the powerful capabilities of Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM) directly to your device. The app will come preinstalled on Samsung’s new foldable phones.

3

Powered by our advanced multimodal models, Gemini Notebook is a thinking and research partner. On the expansive displays of the Galaxy Z Fold8 series, you can drag and drop photos, documents, images of whiteboards, recordings, and more into a side-by-side workspace.

You can use Gemini Notebook’s chat feature to ask questions about your materials, or go a step further and create high-quality, customized resources—including slides, videos, flashcards, quizzes, and even podcasts—tailored to the way you learn best.

To help you tackle your most challenging projects, every Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8 will include a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, giving you more usage access to powerful features such as Audio Overviews, Video Overviews, and Slides.

3. Use Gemini wherever you go with watches and glasses

Our partnership with Samsung extends beyond smartphones. On Galaxy Watch 9, you can access Gemini more conveniently whenever you need it. Just raise your wrist to activate Gemini and ask your question directly—no wake word required.

We’re also bringing Gemini to glasses. At Google I/O 2026, we announced smart glasses developed in partnership with Samsung and planned for release this fall, and showcased two designs from our partner eyewear brands, Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. Today, we’re revealing two additional frames and sharing more about how Gemini will help on these new devices. For example, if you’re wearing a compatible Wear OS watch, you’ll be able to control your glasses using gestures alone.

Whether you want to simplify everyday tasks or work more efficiently, what we announced today is just part of what we have planned. We’ll continue rolling out more intelligent features as they become ready, so you won’t have to wait long.
